Purpose: Strengthen parents’ ability to model, scaffold, and sustain digital thinking at home—not just manage screen time or content
Understand how school-industry partnerships can benefit their children, the schools they
attend, and communities.
Recognize their role in supporting and initiating connections with local businesses.
Learn how to communicate effectively with school leaders and teachers about partnership
opportunities.
Translate the knowledge and experiences they have from industry and/or community and
transalte them in a way that is understanable and clear for school.
Begin developing ideas or strategies to help their children’s school connect with for-profit
companies.
Learning outcome:
By the end of this session, Parent participants will:
Understand the differences between the school’s priorities and needs, and the priorities of
other realities they are more familiar with.
Be able to support the initiation and maintenance of successful partnerships between industry
and school.
Be able to identify the signs of exploitation on the industry’s side and lack of understanding on the school’s side if partnerships struggle.
