Module Purpose
Bullying is often discussed as a peer-to-peer problem, something children do to one another.
In reality, peer bullying is a visible symptom of deeper patterns.
Children learn by experience:
- How power is used
- Who is allowed to speak
- Whose discomfort is dismissed
- How harm is normalized or interrupted
These lessons come not only from peers, but from adults, institutions, families, and communities.
This module helps parents to:
- Understand bullying as a learned behaviour and cultural signal
- Recognize the full range of bullying experiences children may have
- Respond to bullying without blame, panic, or oversimplification
- Support children whether they are targets, witnesses, or perpetrators
- Interrupt bullying patterns at home and in wider systems

- Define bullying and cyberbullying as relational and cultural behaviours
- Recognize how adult behaviour influences peer bullying
- Identify signs of bullying beyond obvious peer conflict
- Support children who experience bullying from peers or adults
- Respond in ways that prioritize safety, dignity, and long-term change
